The spoon clinks on the side of my ceramic cereal bowl. Like a Pavlovian bell, Emma dashes into the kitchen. She nuzzles her petite face against my legs. She purrs. She meows. She nuzzles my legs again.
I am in the middle of eating my morning oatmeal. Emma begs for a taste. As I finish the last few bites of my instant oatmeal, I save the last bit for Emma. She eagerly laps up the oats, licks her dainty lips, and saunters out of my kitchen.
Emma's morning oatmeal |
"Emma, you must be the only cat in the world who loves instant oatmeal." I chuckle to myself. What an odd thing for a cat to beg for.

She's so beautiful! Look at her markings! I always love a cat post and reading about Emma and her bite of oatmeal was a special treat this morning. (Also, I SO wasn't going to slice this month. I was determined! And somehow here I am!!)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Emma is a beauty and so playful. She makes me laugh all the time.
DeleteAnd, welcome back!
Awww. I love this snippet in time you've shared. I've got a poof of fur that begs incessantly for any and all white cream type things. Thanks for reminding me and giving me an idea along with your great slice!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Emma loves all cream things, too. I think that she thinks that the oatmeal must be yogurt or ice cream. It's so odd.
DeleteMaybe Emma is a dog in disguise! I wonder if to her oatmeal tastes like fish! I just fed Snug roasted cauliflower. I’m shocked he ate it. I’m going to eat oatmeal tomorrow and see if Hero wants some, a decision I may regret!
ReplyDeleteEmma is too moody to be a dog. Seriously! I eat the instant oatmeal with water - nothing special. This is why it perplexes me. You will have to let me know if Hero eats oatmeal, too.
DeleteIsn't it funny how tey just know by the clink of a spoon! And yes, what a strange thing for a cat to eat. I'll be curious to see if Glenda's cat eats it!
ReplyDeleteIt is. She's 12 years old and she seems to hear this sound from the other side of the house!
DeleteWhat a sweet face Emma has! Cats are certainly creatures of comfort, and oatmeal is, after all, comfort food... just saying...
ReplyDeleteYour comment made me smile. Yes, oatmeal is definitely comfort food!
DeleteI never knew a cat who loved oatmeal, but we did have a cat who liked chili. Cats and books always stop the scroll for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's sweet of Emma to share your breakfast! I have one that will beg for mint chocolate chip ice cream, and had one who would do nearly anything in her power to get hold of a stalk of asparagus.
