Slice of Life 2018 Day 1: Do it again tomorrow

A few days ago author Shauna Niequist posted this on Twitter:
Shauna's Post from 2/26/2018

These are the kind of lines I love to linger over. Shauna’s words fill me. Inspire me.

This is my first Slice of Life Post, and I have wanted to try “slicing” for years. Although I been blogging a few months now, I am intimidated. I am beyond my comfort zone. I am worried. I am overwhelmed in thinking about keeping up with a challenge like this and having enough worthy topics to publish.

Yet, I think this challenge (and writing in general) is very much like the message Shauna Niequist shared- it is the act of working on something every day, accomplishing something worthwhile, and building on it. I am not writing a book, but these are three lines that I want to remember:

“You got it on the page.
Now do it again tomorrow.
And do it again the next day.”

See you tomorrow!

  1. I'm a first timer too! It is really intimidating jumping in when there are so many that are so well-established... and I am terrified I might not find enough to write about! But you're exactly right here; we just have to keep plugging! Enjoyed your post!

  2. Welcome to the March challenge! This is my third year slicing and I have similar fears and anxieties. Where will those topics come from?? 31 of them! I think I might write a post about it! It's the dailiness of the challenge that appeals to me too--the routine and habit of it. It is very much like the kind of physical training we might do for exercise challenges.

  3. Yes, yes, YES! I love that tweet! I am so glad you are jumping in. I think you will find all the support you need, and then some, to help you make it through this challenge. Use other slices for ideas - no arrests are made for stealing in the month of March! I'm counting on seeing you tomorrow!

  4. Welcome to your first #SOLC. I love that tweet and your emphasis on those three lines. Don't feel intimidated. You own words, and words piled up together equal ideas, and ideas make blog posts. Corwin published a list of 50 blog post ideas a while back, but you can find lots of lists via Dr. Google, as well as from other bloggers.

    Happy writing. Enjoy the journey.

  5. Welcome - so glad you are here! That tweet was perfect for a first day! I know the feeling and I have been slicing for about 6 years. It is just putting one foot in front of the other. I have often found if I just put a few words down the rest will follow - even when I sit down with no idea what to write. Looking forward to seeing you each day!

  6. Welcome to this awesome community! You will find so much support here. There will be days where the inspiration is there and your slice will type itself. Other days you will sit there at a complete loss. But don't lose faith. You've got this!
